This was overlooked by some people, so I'll put it here. Thought it was a nice touch from Bethesda. Since I'm in US I may as well try switching to French and see how the actors sound lol ^_^ Unfortunately our UK friends here are stuck with English only. Though I assume that results in smaller file size (the 28 minimum). French is a smooth language, romantic even. If I play my entire game for many hours, I may even learn some of it. 2-in-1. Educational gaming!

Here’s the supported languages for Fallout 4, with Bethesda noting that you may need to adjust the system level language settings on consoles to gain access:

In North America, Fallout 4 supports English/French voice/text.
In South America, Fallout 4 supports English voice/text, as well as BR-PT and Latin American Spanish text.
In the United Kingdom and Australia/New Zealand, Fallout 4 supports English voice/text only.
In most European territories, Fallout 4 supports English/French/Italian/German/Spanish voice/text
In Russia and Poland, Fallout 4 supports English voice/text and Polish/Russian text.
In Asia, Fallout 4 supports English voice/text and English voice / Traditional Chinese text.
In Japan, Fallout 4 supports Japanese voice/text.

Meanwhile, the Pip-Boy App usable with all versions will launch on November 10 for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.

I really want to try the Japanese version though! I will see if I can import a copy one day. to be clear, PS4 isn't region locked is it? What about xbox one?
Also IIRC other games like Metro 1-2 included even more language options, like 4-5 audio tracks to choose. I love that extra effort from devs.

As a bloke born in Italy and stuck there, I gotta say, I always liked our dubs.

Dubbing is almost an art 'round these parts, and our voice actors always did fantastic jobs on most anything from films to TV series to videogames.

I'll probably play my second playthrough with the dubbed voices, since I don't really like the Mark Meer-ish Shepard impression Brian Delaney is conveying. First will be in original English with German subtitles. For academical reasons.

Ok thanks. good to know since I was looking at a DMC4 Special Ed. topic elsewhere. I really want to get it, but I try to get physical more often. DMC4 only has a japanese version for a physical copy. I will get that later.

nice. Yeah I still get a Commander Shepard vibe from Delaney so far. I may play with the female character for my first run. Never did that for any RPG before.

why is France stereotyped for surrendering all the time? Honest question. how often did they surrender in history? They seem to have a competent military today too.

Because Bill O'Reilly said so. Circa 2003. "Freedom fries" and all that.

I like it. Shepard's voice matched every appearance you could make in character creation. From what I've heard, there seems to be more emotion in Fallout 4.
Accept reality, and get a front row seat to a world where the people you hate lose everything they love and hold close. There is no feeling better.

OK, Bill O'Reily jokes aside. I'm genuinely intrigued by this idea. Who has done something like this before, specifically as a means of learning?

Can the menus and inventory and whatnot all be set to French as well? (I know we haven't played this, but I dont' know if there's standard protocol for multilingual games).

Do you use English subtitles so that you know what's going on? That seems a bit counter-productive, I'd just read the subs and half-ignore the audio.

French is there because of Quebec! We are the french place of America! Nouvelle-France/New-France, from 1604 to now ( but we were conquered :(... France didn't help us Vs the english, but they help USA later -_- )

And the France stereotype is because in the Second World War (WW2), France had capitulate to Nazis. It was under control of Germany for a couple of years or months.
I don't speak english very well. Sorry!
