We have 3 developers. Why not have them work on 3 different eras of warfare

One could do the past (Vietnam, Kora, WW2 ect.) One could do Modern stuff and one could do future stuff

anyone think that would work better than having the same era for three years

That hit me only yesterday, and why the fatigue is faster than it has ever been despite it being only 2 years since Advanced Warfare.

Three future games in a row with that newish clean engine, and chances are there will be at least another future one down the line with AW2. Treyarch may do something different after capping off Black Ops.

But it does show how alternating time periods keep things somewhat balanced, since I didn't get sick of the CoD games from CoD4 until Ghosts. You had Modern-WW2-Modern-Vietnam-Modern-80's/future. Thats a better balance to Future-Future-Future-Future-possibly Future-Future

That last part made me sound like Squidward, but it also shows why Battlefield got praise for the weirdly alternate WW1 setting, even it it may not be that great for tech. Its just something different to all the future games we have got over the entire console generation.
E3, finally delivering something for the new consoles.

Yeah, that's probably the route they should have taken. I don't get what's the point of having 3 developers if they're all doing the same thing. It's completely pointless.

Have not bought a COD game since Ghosts, last good COD was MW3, once BLOPS 2 went with the futuristic, scifi BS the series has been going downhill big time.

COD had a serious identity crisis and hopefully COD:IW will fall flat on it's face and they will go back to making games set in reality, and realistic conflicts of the modern day or the past.

Battlefield has won over this COD fan for keeping it believable and grounded in reality, hell Battlefield 1 in WW1 is a breath of fresh air.

once BLOPS 2 went with the futuristic,

BO2 wasn't "futuristic" it only takes place 12 years into the future. the use of drones and robotics was pretty much in line with that's happening right now. it certainly wasn't scifi

Gotta say that's still technically futuristic seeing as it's set in the future, and currently technology isn't as advanced as bo2.

It is why some companies fail.

They simply don't think or encounter too much group think.

COD is a bohemoth and will survive, but anyone with basic business sense should have done exactly what is in the op.

It would have kept everything fresh, novel, and appeased the entire needs of the whole marketplace.
