Oh...I think Nintendo will pick this gem up. If Square-Enix did their bloody homework, they'd realize 1) over 200k sales, 2) every copy sold, 3) most copies sold by the end of week 1, and 4) Enix of Japan purposely ensured a limited print run, and probably feared any new prints would sit on shelves given DW3 and DW4's sales (even though they'd have made money, it's bad for business as retailers are less likely to purchase new DQ IP's).
So by any estimation, DQ7 was already a success, we just don't call it one. Nor do we have any clue how well it could have done in the US. Even so, I'd be willing to bet Nintendo kept tabs on DQ7's sales worldwide (she's a jealous mistress she is). So I'd be damn sure Nintendo wouldn't pass up the opportunity to introduce the definitive version of the highest selling Playstation RPG in Japan (still sold more than FF7 there =p, barely though) to the US market. Not to snub Sony or anything, but just to push DQ here, and a game that has over 200k existing fans...all likely major RPG fans, and as all RPG fans today know; Nintendo handhelds are where the RPG's are at...even though the 3DS is running a bit behind the GBA and DS.
