Really sorry for not keeping this updated, I've been very busy lately. I'll take a look at this soon hopefully and try to get a newer version posted as this version is definitely out-of-date.

Good guide, Thanks! One thing I think you should add in the next revision is a section about malware that changes the .exe association, that seems to be the big thing this year for some reason, and lots of people just choose to format their computer because they cannot open anything, when really it is a pretty simple fix.

I am having issues with a program that maybe related to a removal of a malware off my pc. Right after the removal of said malware, my pc started having this issue with D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE! error on games. I do not know if it is related or not.

Here are some links to some information on the problems:

I tried asking EA games and their stumped about this particular problem.

This is the one i asked on here, and only got asked if i use scanners to scan. Considering i read this post 1 year ago and follow the guidelines in it everyday, I knew i had nothing like that on my pc now. I even scanned in safe mode to make sure.

Again, this happened shortly after i removed a trojan horse/malware program. It is microsoft's consensus that it could of corrupted some files. Problem is, nobody knows how to fix it, and i keep getting the run around. As from the 1st link, i tried many things to fix this situation, and none of it seemed to work. Perhaps you gentleman and gentlewoman could help me on here please?
