Pablo Sandoval got put on the DL with an ear infection. Probably spilled some gravy in his ear canal.

Dombrowski won't call up Devers and won't trade for Moustakas, so this team that is a half game out of first at a critical part of the year will have Deven Marerro playing third for another extended stretch.

It's amazing we're as high as we are in the standings when 3B has been a historic black hole both offensively and defensively all season long.

I've had no problem calling out players from my teams for being dirty in the past. This was a baseball play.

Well, it was an illegal baseball play, according to MLB rules. An illegal one that could have seriously injured another player.

I guess we have different definitions of "dirty" plays, then. Dirty implies malicious intent to me, like he was intending to injure Hedges. I don't think he was. He was trying to score. I didn't even think twice about the play until I saw the AJ Green was mad after the game

There's a difference between illegal and dirty. It was illegal but it wasn't dirty.

It would be like calling every hands to the face penalty in football a dirty play. Sometimes it just happens. Not malicious and certainly I don't think the intent to injure was there... and that's what would be dirty to me.

...kind of like a fastball to the ribs in retaliation.

the current state of the red sox rotation is such that when I see drew pomeranz is pitching I go "thank god! a coin flip chance!" instead of "ah f*** it's the 5th day guy", and it's not like pomeranz is exceeding expectations

porcello is an auto-loss, price is more mentally fragile than zack greinke, the two bright spots are on the DL and obviously may not even be good either, I have no idea who hector velazquez is and yet because the yankees couldn't beat an al west team to save their life they are in first place

We're a TERRIBLE division - especially after you two.....and I still don't see too many better divisions other than the NL West (outside of jjonc' s teams)

It's Houston then it's the Nats other than their bullpen and the Yankees other than the last week, the 3 NL West teams, 2 of which could very well still be frauds *I too am feeling rocktober......and then it's just straight garbage fires everywhere else.

I was listening to the post game after one of the Yankees beatdowns I think and they said we were still in the second wild card. I'm like, how is the AL this bad? And then a few minutes later they discuss how the NL had FIVE above .500 teams (it currently has 6....keep it going Cubbies!)

Baseball is a whole lot of awful it seems like. Maybe I'm just biased from the past several weeks (and we won tonight! AL Central gon AL Central.)

So wait, a 6'3" and 240 pound guy bulldozing a catcher that is not expecting it at all is "illegal but not dirty" but a fastball off the ass would be dirty? I'm anti-retaliation pitches as much as anyone else, but if any situation ever called for one, it was this.

The Jays have played 8 games where they had the chance to get back to .500. They're 0-8 and have been outscored 62-20 in those games.

Rizzo was trying to score. Throwing at him is doing nothing but trying to injure.

Trying to score by breaking the rules in a negligent manner that could have ended in serious injury. Much more serious than getting hit with a baseball in the leg.
