If it's a ranged weapon, it'll have Mt11
If it's a melee weapon, it'll have Mt13

So the weapon will convert your damage into half magic and half physical. Just in case some people may wonder what's the whole point, it's so if you meet a def tank, you can inflict half res damage to salvage your potential loss and if it's a res tank, same thing.

How is defense/resistance factored in? Their Def/Res is counted as half? Does it deduct from both defenses at full making the weapon useless? Does the game have to explain all that? It gets too convoluted.

No, because half damage of 25 (assuming base 50 attack) is still piss poor damage (0 on dominant defense, like maybe 5 on the lesser defense).

I would guess it'd be like staff penalty but twice, if that makes any sense.

So if you had 50 Atk vs an enemy with 30 Def, 20 Res, a regular weapon would do 20 physical or 30 magical damage, but the hybrid would do 15+10 for 25, essentially averaging out (rounding down if it's really like staves, but rounding up if it's like defensive specials).

The problem would be what kind of target you'd want this for, and what happens when your damage for one category goes "negative."

Like say you're fighting a +Def/-Res Lukas (46 Def, 13 Res w/ Fortress Def). Now let's say your hybrid has 40 Atk. This would be -6 physical, 27 magical, but would you be doing 13 damage, or 10? Either way it's kind of trash, but better than nothing.

Then you run up to +Res/-Def Innes's 11 Def, 39 Res w/ Fortress Res, and you're doing a whole 15 damage.

Why not just have one physical and one magical damage dealer instead? If your team is otherwise too physical, then all the more reason to have one good mage. If your team has too much magic already, then they'd really need to hide behind a big strong fighter rather than another half-mage.

A better way to do this is to make it a "brave" type weapon with reduced MT, but the second hit is magical instead of physical.

Why yes, it deducts enemies def and res by half. Explanation can be

Reduce enemy DEF and RES by 50% while this unit is in battle with the enemy unit. This unit inflict 50% of it's damage as physical damage.

Will say magical if it's a physical weapon.

That actually will work, there ofc need to be no penalty
