Amazingly simple and amazingly true at the same time. Me personally, i would never do that or think like that, but some people do, so props to them.

For once, I agree with you, Polish. I wouldn't think like that, either. I wouldn't accept the gospels at face value like this man did. I would research their historical origin, which he obviously hasn't done at all.

I dont think you analyzed everything he said. He is an investigator by profession. The biggest point of doing an investigation is proving if something is falsifiable. He analzyed the gospels and could not find any lies or inconsistencies with them. That was part of the point he was making. The other point was how his investigation led him to christ. Did you catch that part?

Bart Ehrman has something interesting to say about that in this 6 minute video. There are so inconsistencies in the gospels. The eyewitness accounts don't agree with one another. I can almost guarantee if eyewitnesses to a crime gave as many inconsistent accounts as the gospels do, any investigator worth his salt would throw them all out.

I watched the video all the way through. He talks about his feelings a lot, which is fine. Lots of people will read a religious text and realize, then and there, that it's something that speaks to them. However, he seems to have looked at the gospels with rose tinted glasses more than with a critical eye, and he's talking about just examining the gospels based upon the claims that they're making. There isn't any indication that he looked at the history behind them, such as how they were all likely written after the apostles were long dead, and how John especially didn't come about until much later on.

And it's a safe bet that he would not be so generous in assuming the authors' honesty if we were to give him the text of a rival religion to critique.

so, he had a gut feeling that it was true

and then "as Paul said" anyone who says they witnessed the resurrection is a liar if it didn't happen

To be honest I just...don't understand his rationale at all.

Not "don't understand" as in "don't agree" but I literally don't see how he gets from point A to point B.

Gospels sorta kinda look like other eye witness accounts...therefore they're true? I'm really not following how that works.

Gee, PC, you certainly seem to be hard at work giving Christianity a bad name here, too.
