why make someone easier to kill when you could get to the second part faster

The Sydney Sleeper is already pretty solid so eh? :s

You're underrating the faster charge time combined with clean up pals & the AoE jarate.

It's not extremely meta in a super serious game, but it's been pulled out a few times in Platinum HL games in some niche scenarios.

Alright, if you're saying that it's probably legit pretty alright. Time to try it out for awhile.

It's actually pretty damn strong vs Scouts and other low hp classes. The faster charge and not having to actually aim for the head makes it effective enough.

Not sure how you're messing about with it went, but yeah basically the Sydney Sleeper excels in exactly two areas over the other Sniper Rifles in "perfect" play:

* AoE Jarate w/o having to do a secondary on an extremely low cooldown (0.2s on a headshot, 2.8s on a full charge bodyshot) means the Sydney can neuter people stacked on an objective. I've ran it in lobbies and a couple of Silver scrims in the past and hitting 4-5 people stacked on a KOTH objective has happened, leads to a very easy capture block.

* 150ing a Medic/unbuffed Sniper who has their head mostly/all obscured but their body is easier to hit/

If you aren't talking "perfect" or even "top tier amazing", it also excels at:

* destroying Scouts with good movement that are hard to headshot

* denying jumpers who are hard to headshot

* counter sniping Snipers who don't have a buff or are running the Razorback and can't get a buff

* wrecking Pyro and Heavy, especially Heavy where repeated shots can make him wish you were throwing him into the respawn on the other Sniper Rifles. srsly Sydney can just make a fat man useless as long as you're up.

It gets really potent if you have a Scout who will listen to damage calls (telling them that damage calls from you = they are jarated) and go clean up...which usually isn't hard to entice them to go do because it makes them look good.

If you're actually great at Sniper the Machina is the best with the stock in 2nd place, but the Sydney has its occasional shining points.
