its joining guild wars 2 as being a strong WoW competitor and being free to play. now blizzards a bit behind the curve with the continued 15 a month..you have the two best MMOs besides WoW as both free to play forever.

thoughts? will blizzard ever drop their 15 a month sub model? the competitions doing it... and those are not bad games by any means..ive played both of them and theyre the best mmos on the market other than WoW for certain.

There's a big difference between "behind the curve" and "didn't almost die and forced to go free-to-play just to survive," like the case of Tera (And the majority of MMORPGs out there).

Lol GW2

What happens when Diablo and WoW mate then end up giving away the child.

Alright that was mean. GW2 is good when you need a break, but for me WoW is just finitely more appealing in every sense of the word.
I have realized the WoW community and Minecraft community are easily the most pleasant. The rest generally cause me to suffer brain cell loss or head trauma.

My thoughts are that WoW will go free to play when it needs to go free to play. f2p used to mean "failed mmo" but that's not the case anymore. Look at lotro, it's stronger than ever since going f2p (not to say it doesn't suck still but yeah).

It's just like all those "free" iphone games that have lots of in app purchases. Those are some of the biggest money makers out of ANY games.

I'm not even sure what point i'm trying to make, but i guess what i'm saying is that when Blizzard thinks they can make more money with micro purchases than they are currently making with 9-10 million people paying $15 per month, then will it go free to play.

We're all dying, aren't we?

Yeah, a lot are going F2P. That's what happens when your game dies.

Can't tell if tc is serious but as another has said...why would an mmo that is still popular let you play for free...silly topic is silly
I don't care if you came from a 3rd world country, fleeing persecution and poverty to get onto gameFAQs. I'm still going to insult your English. -HECTOROCKS

The only reason that WoW MIGHT go free to play, would be to attract more people, but considering it still has like, 9-10 million subs it won't anytime soon. I mean, look at FFXI, there's only what? 500,000 players, give or take alot (last I heard atleast), with a "sequel", is still sub based and is coming out with a new expansion soon. So, yeah. No where near soon.
While you bask in my glory, please try not to make me angry by writing words that don't exist in dictionaries.
