is it safe to run normal, at this level, avg dps is around 70K (i know not very good)

Depends on the rest of the grp: my raid grp went into ToT when we were all 498-505 and we still have a lot of trouble on several encounters... even pre nerf queen was easy compared to a lot of the fights there.

The 'safest' way to get into ToT would be join a guild doing prog where the players are all similar ilvl to you.

A knowledgeable ilvl 491 is far more valuable then an ilvl 500 who doesn't know any of the fights.

Gear wise I think you'd be okay, at least for the first several fights.

well i got as much knowledge as i can get out of videos and LFR, but you can only go so far with out actually experiencing the fights themselves
