I have been looking for a good VN to experience that area of gaming an storytelling, i have been interested before but as is expected this kind of games are hard to find. I have found possibility to purchase from a number of VN's recently, and thus i now have a reason to look through which seems interesting.

First of all, i am not good at expressing emotion through writing, so my post can come off as stale and bored, i am sorry for that.

It's probably not likely i get an answer here anyway in such a niche area of gaming.

I also like to point out i have little issues with the initial themes, i don't judge things i have no experience of. Things can be so deep words can't describe them, so making an opinion from an internet description alone would not be fair. I am not judgemental, and while i ain't exactly "old", i have lived through enough to learn that even the most shallow surfaces can hide huge depth. I am also an emotional person, so i am a sucker for dramas in general.

Anyway, i wonder about .... "that" content. I am, more or less, genophobic/asexual/whatever, to a certain degree. Not as a result of anything, but naturally. I can't watch porn/hentai and i rarely have interest in sex. This, obviously, makes my presence here weird.

But don't get me wrong, i am not unable to understand the importance and meaning of sex to others. After all, if something makes another person happy, i don't need to like it myself to value others happiness. If i make any sense.

This brings forth my questions:

1. Is any genitalia shown in this game?

2. How much presence does nude breasts have?

3. Can it be played through without any sex scenes?

4. Would a sex-less playthrough have worth?

5. I have hard to relate to people with overly much sex on their mind, is the main character a problem in that area.

I will wait a while, if i don't get an answer or am advised against this, should i make similar topic in the Crescendo forum part?

1. Is any genitalia shown in this game?

Yes.

2. How much presence does nude breasts have?

Not really much outside of a few scenes.

3. Can it be played through without any sex scenes?

No.

4. Would a sex-less playthrough have worth?

Yes, of course.

5. I have hard to relate to people with overly much sex on their mind, is the main character a problem in that area.

Not really, he has more pressing concerns on his mind.

That's a fast response.

I guess i'll be the first to ask if there exist an actual censor option in the game?

Actually, maybe it's better to go on to ask about another first, if you have experiences with Crescendo or ........ what was it now ...... Snow Sakura, i think, could you do the same answering for them? So i don't need to post replicate topics in the board of several VN's.

While there's no actual censor option in the game, you can adjust the screen darkness in the game to obscure the graphics.

So if you think you could handle it, once a sex scene starts you could change the screen setting so the graphics are so dark that you can barely see them. You could then either read the sex scene, or keep clicking until the sex scene is over. At that point, you could then make the graphics visible again and continue playing.

The same approach would work for Crescendo. The sexual content in that game is restricted to several specific scenes. There's no gratuitous or unexpected nudity, and the main character isn't sex-obsessed.

You should look into "clean" VNs, or those with the option to turn off adult content. Ever17 and Remember 11 are clean, Tsukihime's fan translation and Katawa Shoujo have the disable option. There are others; those are just the first that come to mind. If you can be tolerant of the content, there are a bunch of other good VNs as well. Just avoid anything by Zyx and Sekilala; their romp-fests are thinly veiled at best.

Snow Sakura is good, but its second half goes more into adult content than Kana or Crescendo. It's hilarious though. Probably ideal as a follow-up to Kana.

Ever17 looked highly interesting, but seemed hard to obtain, i know nothing about downloading, so i need to find a box copy. Where is it available?

Now, i was rather looking forward to Crescendo trough, does it also have a brightness option? Or voices, then i can just turn the screen off?

It's been a while since I've played Crescendo, but I'm pretty sure it has the same screen brightness option as KLS.

Crescendo has Japanese voices, but I think it would probably be better to skim through the text rather than relying on the voices to tell you when the sex scene is over.

Heh, i didn't mean "those" voices, i meant actual dialogue, so i didn't miss out on character interactions through words. I have a decent understanding of several language's, including Japanese, so i could follow a limited conversation by ear.

May i ask, is the text affected by brightness or pasted on top of the screen? Is there actual dialogue in "those parts"?

The brightness settings only affect the graphics, not the text. The text is always visible.

The dialogue during the sex scenes is usually limited to the "oh, it feels so good" variety, though admittedly in KLS there are times when character moments are included during the sex scenes.
