If you wish, to keep it simple, here is a lil background: I have several friends who are prior military and one who is still active duty reserve. I studied a lot of military information/doctrine, etc. My job has required me to learn quite a bit about small unit tactics due to being a part of the SWAT team. I'd be considered a "gun nut" by some folk, but I ain't ashamed of it. I have a fairly healthy working knowledge of a wide variety of small arms, both US and others.
I'm a pretty damn good shot with most weapons. A friend and I were at the range on one occasion where we were trading off three shot groups from his Springfield M1A. We were shooting at the 200yrd target mark where we had our paper bullseyes set up. We were putting three rounds in almost the same hole. You could cover the holes with a US 10cent piece. But I claim no glory that isn't mine to claim. I am sure as hell no sniper. I've not had any real formal training in long range marksmanship but I'd jump at the chance to do so. Yes, I'm a trained shooter and I'm quite effective. But a sniper, I am not.
As far as the story goes, I could easily have been attached to various military units as a "civilian contractor"... for security details, convoy escort and as things progressed any of us could easily be used on whatever mission our capabilities could be an asset.

Like I said, this won't be for right away, but the more I have planned out for when the time comes, the easier it'll be to make it. If I have to decide and gather everything by then, it'll never happen.
