Did this have any significance?

Also, which did you pick?

I chose the cage. The bird seemed more inviting; the phrase "free as a bird" came to mind. However, I thought it could be a trick so I chose a cage even though it seems to represent entrapment and oppression.

There is significance to making the choice, but the choice you do make is insignificant as long as you remember making it.

non-cryptic spoiler answer with all the tears going on, you'll eventually notice Elizabeth wearing the opposite broach, indicating you're now dealing with an alternate dimension Elizabeth

Significance meaning how? Like changing the rest of the game in some way? No.

Importance to the narrative? It's a variable that gives the illusion of choice of outcome.
