I don't want to discount your enjoyment of the game, but a lot of the people against it dislike the way it regressed from DMC3/4. I'm not saying your opinion will necessarily sour once you play those two; there are many fans of the series as a whole, like myself, who enjoy DmC just as much as the others. We just kind of accept that it has its drawbacks and roll with it.
I understand that. I didn't mind the more accessible combat, but it's understandable that people didn't like it being simplified and made easier. After all, you've seen how angry and bitter I became when they took out the puzzles and platforming from my beloved Tomb Raider >_<
Except they didn't take out puzzles or platforming. Not entirely, anyway.
Still, at least that game's got a likeable protagonist, enjoyable characters, and an excellent plot referencing Heart of Darkness/Apolocalypse Now. And future installments have the potential for having the puzzles expanded upon.
This game's ridiculously easy and simplistic combat is a complete letdown and violates the pedigree of Devil May Cry games.
