I'm currently renting a MC:PE server for my pupils, but the server client haven't been updated since v1.2.0 and most of the kids have updated their client to a newer versions and are thus not able to connect to the server anymore.

The host provider can't do anything as they're not responsible for the server client, so the server just sits idle most days.

I've heard, that the Windows 10 servers and MC:PE are able to cross platform connect, is this true?

The Windows server clients seem to be more frequently updated, so would it be possible for our school to rent a Win10 version and still have our pupils join the server, using their ipad version of MC:PE?

Kind regards,

Honestly, I don't know. I play the java edition, which is what this board is for. I just know it doesn't have cross play with the other systems.

Ye, I know the PC board is the java version. But the other platforms' message boards are mostly dead with a single old active post or everything locked because of inactivity. So took my chances here.

Problem has been solved though, we found a host that allowed us to test it and I can confirm that tablet versions and Win10 can coexist/play on the same servers.

So if you had a Java client from before the takeover, and thus got a free Win10 version with the upgrade, you can effectively play with everyone regardless of their platform.

Switch users can play later on, PS4 users may or may not be able to play in the future.
The Super Duper Graphics packages will also be coming out at a later date.

I won't touch the Java edition because well Java is just a gaping security hole waiting for you to become a Russian Botnet zombie. I mean Java is why 100 million people's credit card info was hacked out of Experian. Let's not pretend that Java version has no downsides and don't get mad at anyone but yourself if you end up compromised in the future.

For the most part though every BTU (Better Together Update/Bedrock) version can play together regardless of platform.
