The quests for the Anvil house, the twins in Chorrol and Cheydinhal, and Battlehorn castle just got a LOT more tedious seeing as I already killed everything on the path and JUST come through there...

It's a sad day for me.

I would like to have horses actually be fast in Skyrim. I shouldn't be able to run as fast as my horse with 100 speed and 50 athletics.

Its on topic.
Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. You're wrong!

At 100 speed you should be able to outrun your horse.
It's what's on the outside that counts.

With fast travel, the devs don't need to focus on things like quest progression, back tracking, travel distances, and such. Fast travel is a tool to make the dev's jobs easier.

Ah. I see what you mean. I hope if they designed the game as though there isn't any they still put it in.

^ Exactly. Don't blame fast travel, blame Bethesda for being lazy, if you must.

conversely, fast travel influences the developer's decision to make less quest and exploration content, a la there being less to see in oblivion than in morrowind
