A lot of the origins of heroes and characters today seem to be overdone tbh. I know the whole "if something's good why change it?" Argument is pretty valid but idk. Innovation is key in every medium.

When it comes to video games, movies, books, etc. What is interesting to you guys?

Personally, I love last stands, rebellions, and origins.

I like tragic heroes and Average Joe-type characters. Normal (or sometimes not so normal) people caught in extraordinary circumstances, who don't have any ties to fate or destiny or any of that nonsense. I like things that are somewhat grounded in reality. Which is why I like horror/survival horror stories/games so much.

For me it depends largely upon the writer in question, but I generally gravitate to the fantasy genre. One of the biggest things I hate in stories is where the writer does something major only then reverses it a little bit later. Or the "It was dream" BS. Or when the writer tries to go for a very edgy and bitter sweet ending and doesn't pull it off very well.

I think I'll add to this later, it should be obvious which arc I plan to join.

This. Without some sort of power up he's gonna constantly get outclassed by everyone.

Okay then, I didn't do so intiially as he wont see combat much.

I should have asked this before hand, but can he be more commanding? Like 'the cannons were fired at the ship' or something, instead of getting down and fighting, command a few fleets, or something.

If that's the case may I suggest making your character an Altmer instead, let him command the Dominion navies that bombard the Imperial City. We have a severe lack of Dominion characters and pretty much every non-Dominion fleets are going to be pwned by the Dominion's navy.

Also expect your character to fight at least a few times cause we have the habit of having our chars fight. So give him a ring or something that makes a stronger. It doesn't have to be a lot, just enough to be able to match some of the other characters in the RP.

Yes you can make him commanding.

I'm doing that very thing with one of my characters right now.

Also somebody give the emperor the damned goldbrand sword already!
