I read, ( only after I had already power-leveled my archery to 50) that sometimes having one skill leveled much higher than all the rest can lead to some unbalanced monster difficulty.

So will having 50 archery at level 10 lead to these problems?

As long as your highest level skill is a combat skill, you are fine. If it was a non-combat skill, then things would get a tad sticky.

For the most part, this is correct if said combat skill is the one you most enjoy using. That 50 archery would be a problem if you enjoyed using swords and magic and your one-handed/destruction was only like 15 or 20.
