nightmare staff is good for LOOKING badass since it fires some kinda monochrome sphere, but even with dreams it only does 50 damage to an area of effect, meaning its waht, a fireball staff? that requires extra faffing to recharge with dreams. i use it extensivley on my enchanted weapon specialist because of how cool it looks, but its doesnt come close to the wabbajck in terms of utility or power (instakilling nything into a pile of coins or a sweetroll is just beautiful)
Remove the possibilty of a sweet roll........
(I dunno about you, but I'm not pulling a staff unless the S*** hits the fan. This happens most often with powerful enemies.... big dragons, and dragon priests... which are immune to sweet rolling.)
...and WABBA deals 27 damage. That's a joke. Also, I get the whole "it sucks to charge" thing, but it doesn't. Stealing dreams isn't even a crime. No bounty, no attacks, just point and click at a sleeping person = double the damage of Sheo's cheese staff...
Seriously, what's with the Sheo love.
Here comes a new topic. If I get the energy. = (

well, as you say, staves are a "desperation button" and about half of the wabbajacks abilities are very good for removing scary enemies from the fight. turning them into mudcrabs, sweetrolls instakill, various distraction summons, fear effects, i mean...LOOK at all the possibilities
as well as the useful possibilities and off the wall humerous ones, its a pretty snazzy way for non-casters to see what more flashy magic can do, which is nice.
its especially useful at higher levels though, where the only detrimental effects are healing and invisibility, since even turning them into a dremora lord is better than what they WERE.
my issue with the nightmare staff is that as a panic button, it really is just a fireball staff, which isnt bad per se, but just a bit...i dunno underwhelming, whereas with the wabbajack you basically trusting luck that something helpful happens.
dunno if im making much sense, but essentially:the chance for varied distractions/fatalities is imo more useful (and often funny) than the nightmare blasts.
that said though, if i was RP'ing a "serious" character, the wabbajack would deffo be rather too....whimsical for me
WABBA and Sheo are so beloved. Why I ask. Why.... = '(
I don't give a damn about Sheo. I only like the wabbajack because it's pretty much the only weapon artifact that's not just a crappier version of something I can make myself. In the case of the Skull, I'll just cast a fireball instead.
