I'd beat the PC by never ever landing to fight

Isn't the point of dragonrend that it forces him to land? He never does it by choice. It's been a while but I remember that being a large part of the main quest.
Timesplitters is the best game series ever! C/C The choice is clear.
While Sony and Microsoft are counting dollars, Nintendo are counting stars

Exactly so. Until the PC gets the Dragonrend shout, Alduin is basically invulnerable, even when he does land (he does land to attack NPC's periodically, but even then you aren't going to seriously damage him).

Dragonrend grounds Alduin at the Throat of the World and changes his status from invulnerable to Essential - you can then damage him and beat him down for a while. Repeat Dragonrends until he gets beat down enough to call off the fight and run away... In Sovengarde the Dragonrend turns off Alduin's essential status and grounds him so you and the heroes can finish him off.
Hah! You kids these days got it easy. I started playing video games with PONG. Now THAT was a video game! And get off my lawn!
