If i release my Silver Chocobo, is it true that I can obtain another crystal by beating Valfodr Lv.15 as a common drop?

Is it necessary to release the old one first, since it's a chocobo?

You do not have to release your Silver Chocobo in order to acquire more. Like with other Chocobos, you can have up to three Golden and Silver Chocobos at a time. In case you haven't already acquired them through Moogle-related means, you can even have up to four.
The best things in the world are free --- and worth every penny of it.

Thanks for reminding me that! I remember now that I have 3 green Chocobos
