I really hope the NGP falls in the $300 range so it would best compete with the 3DS

They clearly haven't done their homework. Geometry and power wise, 3DS is somewhere in the range of Gamecube or Wii. It can also support modern shaders seen in 360 and PS3, giving it an edge even over Xbox or Wii. It's a lot better than Dreamcast or PS2 in terms of hardware.

There's no doubt the NGP is a lot more powerful than the 3DS, but they clearly don't know much about the 3DS hardware and aren't giving it an accurate comparison. Truth be told, there isn't an accurate comparison. Whereas the NGP can be reasonably compared as close to the PS3, the 3DS is described as a mixture of various systems. But certainly considerably above what they're comparing it to...
