The Caligula Effect: Overdose features drastically upgraded direction, visuals, and processing, a “Forbidden Musician Route” that doubles the scenario, multiple endings, new Go-Home Club members, new musicians, and new songs.

From what I heard, the biggest issues with the Vita version were the performance and also being really short. Seems like this remake will fix those issues.

Vita's performance and the game's length are at the very bottom of Caligula's problems. The whole gameplay outside of combat needs to be completely reworked, it's a shallow repetitive mess.

As much as I dread to, I agree with you Dover. The Caligula Effect is a great game, but it was a bit too short. As well as being too ambitious for the Vita to handle. People blow the small problems out of proportion, and it's totally fine. But everything but the portraits didn't look so hot.

@AlchemistYazan how do you feel?

Ooooh, I've been mentioned :D! Well, yeah, performance-wise, the game wasn't all too good but it was playable and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Am I going to deny it could've been more polished on a different engine/if more work had been put in? Hell no but I'm not going to say I hated the final product because overall it's a really good game. So, that's why I'm glad the game is getting a remaster: 1. So, I can play it again :3! And 2. Because it has such a great concept that I want more people to enjoy it and shifting to PS4 is excellent because it can be enhanced and performance issues can be mimised. Would I want it on PSVita? Yup, but again: 1. I don't mind it being on PS4 as I own both. 2. It can be made with a better engine that can polish it more and that makes me warm and fuzzy :33!!

In conclusion, yes, the game is rough on its edges but its such a gem- I love it even if others don't because I never base my opinions on other peoples'. What do I blame for the game not being "4K120"? The developers were overly-ambitious- the Vita is a great piece of hardware but like all hardware, it does have limitations and so The Caligula Effect wasn't "perfect" and that's just it- a game doesn't have to be perfect for me to enjoy it. Would I want enhanced graphics? Definitely and I hope people can see what a great game Caligula is now that it has more love put into it.

I might be biased because The Caligula Effect really made me appreciate some things in life but I'm never ever going to deny it could've been better, I'd be lying to myself. Performance-wise, it gets like a 6 but in all other aspects, it gets an 8+ from me :)!

Am I going to buy the enhanced version? In a heartbeat! Am I going to lament it not being on Vita? No. Was the original game perfect? Nope. Will this game be better? Only time will tell, I just really hope gameplay and story-tone remain similar, those were incredible.

*EDIT*: Yeah, the game took me 26 hours which isn't "too short" but I which it could've been longer ^^
If history could set you free, from who you were supposed to be. All my life, I've tried to fight what history has given me.

As long as they fix the length of the game, the performance, and add more content, then I'll be really glad.

Plus, i'm really looking forward getting this on PS4 (alongside with Trails of Cold Steel) cus I need more persona games in my life after playing P5, though i'm not too desperate for that *looks at Akiba's Beat*

people s*** on that game too much
if you go into it not wanting an Akiba's Trip clone, it's pretty good. character types with awesome voices and a battle system that's 10% of every other game's battle system all mashed up to do it not quite well as any of them. but the story, humor, and characters are good.
