The way SE treats IPs is a good argument for IP rights to expire, in Lockean fashion, unless something isn't produced from it within 10-15 years.

That would be a horrible idea. Imagine people pushing out whatever crap they can with the IP's name on it so the ownership doesn't expire. Or imagine if it does expire and somebody else takes it and turns it to crap. Actually how does that work anyway, who gets to use the IP after the rights expire?

Ah well, doesn't matter, because it's a terrible terrible idea that will never happen.

The idea is both ideologically and practically sound. Would you push out crap with little to no chance of investment returns (considering how the gaming community is harsh)? No, so instead of hoarding intellectual property, either work on it in some manner, or sell it to someone who will, or else you'll risk the chance of it falling into public domain. 15 years is basically past most console generations, so there's plenty of time.

Why are you afraid anything will "turn to crap"? If it turns to crap, then it does, but it might also go the other way, but at least property is being upheld instead of rotting. The alternative is that the license is up for grabs, instead of turning into public domain, for a small tribute sum and for actual use of the license.

Remake Xenogears and Chrono Trigger. But they would need SE license for that. But Nintendo does own the staff that was responsible for some of those games.

Actraiser. Why did Capcom give up on this series!?

Yeah a real sequel. Not what they did with Actraiser 2. They could do so much more with the sim part of the game these days.

I would love to see a well done 3D Mega Man that captures the thrills of 2D Mega Man.

Megaman X series!!!!! Megaman X8 was a good comeback game (after X7 fiasco)
