Metroid is not a FPS. It is a 2D/3D side-scrolling/adventure series with non linearity ways to progress through the game, badass protagonist(excluding obvious Other M scenes),great music(minus atmospheric themed),great power ups, good story(minus Other M),and its fine like that in terms of 2D.
Metroid Prime 1 did a fantastic job of bringing all the elements of Super Metroid into the 3d world, and didn't fall to Halo/Call Of Duty/generic fps syndrome. The second one was a step back in a few directions but still good, not as good as Prime 1 but enjoyable. The 3rd one got a little bit too easy, gun happy, took a step back in linearity by telling you where to got,but the third one is a good one for newcomers to start on.
Other M IN TERMS OF GAMEPLAY is more faithful than the Prime series with a 3rd person adventure and a feel of old school Metroid. It did include the 1st person mode from Prime but thanks to the design of going with the Wiimote only it was a pain because enemies could attack you since you can't move.
When Nintendo tried going to appeal first person fans we got Prime Hunters(the less said the better.)
What the series needs is to keep the Other M gameplay style and bring some interesting ways to use the Wii U gamepad, better VA or at least better voice direction,no b*ll sh*t reason of taking away of your power ups like in Other M,better music(atmospheric isn't the way to go.),a section of Samus in the Zero Suit(that section in Zero Mission was awesome and you know it),and a great use of that ship(not what they used in Prime 3)
> bad controls > basically no competitive online MP > no team-based gameplay
We need a shooter that's appropriate for 2013. We're in a social world, if you want to sit isolated and explore Talon 4 or whatever go back to the GameCube.
The controls were good, especially on the Wii Competitive MP...Oh, you mean predictable, boring, patterns? Ya no thanks Team based gameplay? Ha! hardly any anonymous players ( or friends for that matter) stick to playing as a team, it's a gimmick bigger than Kinect.
We impose order on the chaos of organic evolution. You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it.
