That's true. Though English is the most spoken language in the world, but usually as a second language.

Living in Canada, I'm in a position where there are actually native-English speakers, so maybe I'm just taking things for granted. But still, an automatic translation system would be beneficial.

The problem of those is that they translate as crap, and that if we don't consider grammatical errors. Come on, most of the translations of spanish to english are crappy because we don't write the subject or we order the phrase in a different way XD

A crappy translation is better than none. One can make interpretations of what the user is speaking at least. And it could be an option and not mandatory.

What I posted in the locked topic..

In Miiverse the setting is for the "Americas". The Americas include the US, Canada, Mexico and the countries of Central and South America. The Caribbean Islands are Part of the Americas too, many of which are primarily Spanish speaking.

Why is this such an issue for you?

Not just for spanish either. Portuguese, french, japanese, chinese, polish, etc, etc...

The only thing an automatic translator would do would be motivate idiots to reply stupidly and only make the people speaking the other language pissed.

I know, i use them to translate some things (mostly words), but it's funny writing one phrase you know into it and getting silly results. They are better used as dictionaries though.

It's just a bit iffy to see so many foreign posts. Other internet services I interact with don't have as much of this, probably due to enforced guidelines.

Change the setting to only see posts in your language.
