Sony talked about this last february, it is a good feature and will be present in all NEXT GEN SYSTEMS!
Look inside the box, live outside of it.

But is not off, is in a sort of sleep mode, low power mode, or something, I know the PS4 has a separate cpu and stuff just for downloads, but no console is gonna download something while off, unless they mean off a sort of sleep mode or low consumption mode....

Wii U is gonna use a system similar to the 3DS, Vita, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad, most android phones, and now the Wii U, because the PS3 and the Xbox 360 have a mode to download stuff while "off" but they are using 100% power, the Xbox turns off the display only, but is still on, the PS3 is 100% on and turns itself off when is done....

What you're failing to mention is Sony's Auto Download feature is tied to Plus, stupid to have to pay for that!

So even if this were true, thats a total of one thing they have copied? When pretty much all of Sony's hardware is copied from Nintendo. I would say they earned it, and a lot more.

No.

Just off the top of my head....

Dual analogs
DVD
Blu Ray
Console Wand controllers

Sony is credited with inventing or co-inventing all of these that Nintendo has incorporated into its consoles.

My PS3 doesn't do it when it's switched off. Nor does it do anything when playing DVDs or Blu-Rays either.

It's payback time for Nintendo. Now Sony knows how it feels to be copied.

Didn't Xbox do it first, in terms of a gaming console?

The 360 still doesn't allow low power download mode. I remember reading it was because the CPU is used to do something to the incoming code before saving to the HDD. Not 100% on that though. It was something to do with QA IIRC, which is also why they don't support modding as the QA codes would not be present in mods without verification.

Umm yes it does..

Console Wand controllers

If you're talking about the Move (the only thing that comes to mind here), please be joking. The massive success of the Wii invented that, which Sony copied and MS improved for some tasks, but made it worst for most.
