Two classic games that made up a chunk of my childhood entertainment. I see no reason to not be excited that they're coming to the new console.

Sorry this bothers you so much TC, but really there's better things to be complaining about.

Really to just end this topic people are simply more excited because prior to the Nintendo Event, Earthbound hasn't seen a release since it first launched on the SNES. What you and others need to realize TC is that this is:

1. Not the biggest news
2. By the time this game does come out (assuming it's not coming out during Next Weeks launch of the VC) it's possible that other games will either be announced or released.

On top of that there are just some games people want to play that they hope gets released state site or in the UK. I mean hell outside the really odd choice for a 3rd game, I'm kinda looking forward to Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD colection because we are getting a copy of a 11 year old game (Kingdom Hearts) Final Mix, a version that was never released outside Japan.

Owners are rabid for releases. Everything will get the star treatment as it nears. Not much else to do.

What do you believe this says about the upcoming games list of the Wii U?

Nothing. People have been actively campaigning for this since Wii launched. They are excited because they thought it would never come out.

And if it's coming out, there's a glimmer of hope that its sequel will too, which people have been campaigning to come out before that.
Polite conversation should never include Politics, Religion or what constitutes an RPG.
Playing a game for it's story is like watching porn for it's story.

Not to make you all mad or anything......but TC has some good arguments on here. I will however say that those 1st party are obviously really special to many. I personally do not get excited anymore for the next zelda or mario, because they still follow the same formula as the first couple of games.
Currently Playing: UMVC3(Nova, Spence, Doom), Persona 4 & P4A(Chie), Xenoblade Chronicles ,Injustice(Black Adam), and Guacamelee!

Everybody will be excited for the re-release of a game that brings a lot of good memory.

I am excited when they announced A Link to the Past for 3DS because that game has special place in my younger days.
If someone post "I don't care", they actually care VERY much.
If they DON'T care, they WON'T bother posting.

I would agree if it wasn't because this is Earthbound we're talking about.
As soon as I saw it announced, I KNEW there was going to be a big uproar. And I'm sure it would have happened too if the WiiU had had more games, or if it had been released for the 3DS.
So yeah, while there have been some valid points in the discussion, I don't think the particular case of Earthbound is a valid example. It would have made people go mad no matter the context.

Makes perfect sense to me. A game that was being clamored for so long, with excuses like offensive themes or trademark issues. What's happened now? Nintendo releases their ace in the hole, their FF7 remake, when there's nothing else to give the fans.

ITP: Legal issues are just 'excuses' and giving the fans what they want is somehow a bad thing

And what if it kept happening? Nintendo delay games or the Wii U sales drop further, so Nintendo keep throwing out a scrap for the fanboys every time to cover it up.

"Its alright Nintendo, ill forgive you anything if you give me a treat every now and then"

Really? The best you have is a lame Slippery Slope fallacy? Go back to trolling school.

And then Nintendo reaches down and pats Buretsu on the head "good boy, have a belly rub"

Really? Slippery slope and ad hominem?

In case you're wondering, slippery slope is "If this happens a lot it's bad. Don't let it happen once" and ad hominem is "The person I'm arguing with is a bad person. Therefore, their arguments are bad.".
For those of you starting topics about the PS4, there's a PS4 board:
