It's a stupid idea. The money they'd make selling SMB on the iOS would be pocket change and it wouldn't help them in the long run.

Because some games controls suck on iOS?

As if mario was a complex game that couldn't be played on atari

Hahahah. Obvious hyperbole is obvious.

If you'd said SNES or even NES you'd be correct, but no Atari systems sans the Jaguar and 7800 could properly handle the mechanics.

As to the topic, probably because they don't want to dilute their brand and pay royalties to develop for Apple's products. Talk about rehashing being bad now all you want, but you know that the moment they make one game for the system and it actually sells, investors might clamor for low costs and demand a stream of titles, at least one a year.

Not a bad business model, but not something they obviously want to do. If things got bad, and I mean really bad, they might consider it, but not anytime soon.

No dpad, no fun. Boot up 9x on any smart phone and give anything but turn based rpgs a go and see how horrible it is for yourself.

Putting a AAA title from any generation on another platform dilutes the value of Nintendo's hardware. What's to stop someone from waiting for all their favorites to come out on iPhone or iPad or OSX if one game does?

In order to move their consoles (both home and portable), they need to keep their AAA titles on those consoles to give them additional value.
A musical sentence is a motive that is immediately developed upon then drives towards a PAC, IAC, or HC. The PC was likely unallowed due to counterpoint rules.

Look how the 2600 struggled with Mario Bros, never mind SUPER Mario Bros.

And don't forget that the moment they did so, all the trolls who whine about how they should do it will immediately flip sides and say that Nintendo making iOS games is just the first sign that they're going bankrupt and going to be a third party.

Why won't Sony bring God of War to Wii U!?

Why won't Nintendo bring Zelda to playstation or Xbox.

It would degrade their own ecosystem.
Hmm a flag with the peace symbol on it. Your militant dictatorship can't have that, now can it Mario?

This.

Also, if (note the IF please) Nintendo is in trouble and needs to sell off their assets, the Mario IP will be much more valuable if they haven't already licensed it out to someone.

If you wan't to know the answer it's their IP. Their IP is used to sell their Nintendo boxes, and they would rather sell themselves to Sega than have their stuff go on to the iPhone or android.
