I very much doubt it will happen (anytime soon that is), but the big 3 are each on the ledge.
Nintendo with the Wii U having a slow start,(very slow as it seems).
Sony with its incredible debt (ps4 plz save them)
Microsoft shot themselves in the foot with the original X1 drm policies and kinect 2. No one seems to trust them at all now.

This also may be the generation that revitalize's gaming to. Each system is doing new things for each company that is opening a whole world of possibilities. I look forward to how this generation tuns out. Keep your fingers crossed and thumbs ready : )

I'm gonna remain optimistic, but even if the big three all went down, gaming wouldn't die.
One can not help but imagine Microsoft as being ran by a thousand Homer Simpsons. -Obturator

I think next (9th) gen is more likely tbh. By that point, only truly dedicated gamers will express interest in spending lots of money again on another console, plus the whole "diminishing returns" argument will be much more significant by then.

Makes sense. But by then I think that developers would have learned their lesson.
My sig will never happen, but it would be awesome if it did.

i don't see any of them going away anytime soon, but if they did i can't see the pc going away. A lot of the devs would just move over to pc. Really building a gaming pc isn't that much and you wouldn't have to worry about loosing games each gen with each new system.
Got really excited....finished a jigsaw puzzle in 6 months.....box said '2-4 years!'

Not that PC gaming is a cockroach or anything, but it would survive just fine.

It already is crashing. You'd be blind not to see it.
The crash wont happen all at once, it's a long process. And yes, I think it'll happen next generation, but it started in the current one
