I hear a lot of certainty about the plethora of first-party titles we're probably getting for the Wii U, eventually. But if this article about F-Zero is any indicator...

Nintendo might not be ready to continue some franchises. They need to do some thinking about where to go since the last iteration of the franchise.

Anyone can speculate about what's coming, what games do you think AREN'T coming any time soon? For Wii U or even 3DS?

Ports and HD remakes not included.

I don't think we'll see Star Fox. But I hope I'm wrong. At least, I hope they go back to the original formula that made Star Fox and Star Fox 64 such a success, but I digress.

F-Zero seems a little more likely given all the attention it's had lately. Still, relatively unlikely, at least early on.

I'm not certain we'll see a Fire Emblem on the Wii U. I am not sure if this counts though as we'll see plenty on the 3DS. And I very well could be wrong... this one I am probably the least sure about of those listed here.

Kid Icarus may be a one time deal with KI:U. I hope it's not, however. Even so, it may be a handheld franchise. I don't really expect to see it on the Wii U however.

I kind of doubt we'll see a classic Wario game (like Wario Land Shake It or Wario World), but I hope I'm wrong about that.

I doubt we'll see an Earthbound this generation. In any form (besides rereleases, at best).

I can't think of any other unlikely first party franchises that aren't, well, jokes to even consider (Ice Climbers, for instance).

My two coins.

Playing Bowser on Mario Kart, and Noxus on Metroid Prime. I am not a cookie cutter!

Anything that isn't mario, zelda, or pokemon. Since those are the only franchises nintendo seems to give a damn about.

The obvious ones have been named so I'll attempt to go a little more obscure.

Custom Robo - Since the DS one, which wasn't as good as the GC one (which many argue was in turn not as good as the N64 version) this franchise has just seemed to quietly die.

Donkey Konga - well, we didn't have them on Wii and there's no reason to think we'll get them this gen either. In Japan, Taiko no Tatsujin is still going (and is way more popular) but over here we get zilch on the drum-based rhythm-action game front.

Doshin the Giant - This "series" (if one bad game, an add-on, and its re-release can be called that) has never been good. It's never even been acceptable. It's not surprising it's never heard of, but I think that the Wii U could actually do the premise of a relaxing, tropical-island based god sim some justice. It'll never ever happen but I'd kinda like to see it.

Before last week I would've said Chibi Robo with absolute conviction, but last weeks Japanese Nintendo Direct would've proved me wrong. I'll bet it doesn't get localised but it's still nice that franchise is still going.

We got donkey kong country so all other secondary franchises (f-zero, star fox, metroid) can take a seat

I'd love to see a new Star Fox but I doubt we'll get one. Dammit.

I have a feeling we may still see Metroid later in the generation. A new F-Zero is out of the question it seems. They just don't care about it.

Although I love LoZ and Mario, I just want to play something else from Nintendo for a change.

I'll risk saying that we might not see a Metroid after Other M. And it's not like Retro are working with it at present. I honestly see no Metroid at this stage in production for Wii U.
