Reviews (both professional and reader reviews) do have an impact on what games I purchase. If it's a game I'm extremely hyped about (like I was with Twilight Princess, Prime 3, and Brawl), then I will go out and buy it regardless of what the reviews say. On the other hand, if I have a decent amount of interest for a game and it's from one of my favourite genres, then I will pay some attention to reviews. If the game gets a metacritic score below 75, I will look into it and maybe change my mind depending on what the issues seem to be.

If the game is from a genre I don't usually enjoy (like Resident Evil 4) or from a series I'm not familiar with (like Xenoblade), exceptionally high review scores and praise from fans can definitely encourage and convince me to buy it.

So reviews are definitely not all I look at, and my personal tastes are certainly more important, but it's undeniable that they play a role in which games I purchase.

Like lets say Pikmin 3 got 6s across the board but, you were really excited for the game prior to seeing reviews. Would a score keep you from actually purchasing the game?

yes, at some point it is clear the developers screwed up somewhere. Anything above 7 deserves a chance.

If game is getting in the 20s... I'll probably won't buy it unless I want a good laugh.

this is true, but even I saw videos of Superman 64

IMO if a game gets a really high/low score, I still have to see it to believe it

Superman 64 is one of those games you gotta play just for the experience. Same with Sonic 06 and Sonic and the Black Knight... you'll have yourself a good laugh, I promise that much(especially Sonic and the Black Knight, don't watch videos, you should experience it yourself)

I read reviews when I'm unsure of a purchase. I read multiple reviews and look at the overall trend of scores. You can get an idea if a game is solid, a little flawed, or has game-breaking problems.

They have absolutely no weight on what i choose to buy.... i stopped reading reviews a long time ago, theres just no point to it.

I don't pay attention to review scores, as a matter of fact, I don't even notice them.

I'm reading them for the words not the numbers.
