Release it on the virtual console. It would be incredibly easy. There's probably already roms of it. Just a fun little way to get something else out of an old game that would take minimal effort.

Someone made a Mario 64 sequel already with effort put into it, so it doesn't look like it would be hard for a team to do something like this.

Considering what kids with a gameshark can do to SM64, Nintendo shouldn't have to slightest problem hiding stars in each level.

If they are going to re-release Mario 64 it will be a console version of the DS remake. I doubt they will add in green stars, but it is a good addition.
