I'll wind up getting it no matter what, but would love an actual retail release with local multi as well as online. Gut tells me this will be eshop only .

It will have to be eShop or budget retail. The nature of the game excludes local co-op.

Probably retail.

Splatoon looks fun, but I'm kinda unsure if I'll buy it, because of the price, and because it looks the type of game where the online community will die out pretty quick.

And why are people assuming the Turf War is the entire game? It's still in development and this was a demonstration. There's probably a story campaign and everything too. To explain that cat guy.

if it's retail wouldn't it have to have some kind of single player campaign ? And with two screens some kind of local play could be included.

That's what I'm worried about. I hope it does well, because I don't want to buy it only to not have anyone to play with online. It seems like it's been getting a pretty good reaction from mostly everyone so far, though, so we'll see what happens later on.
