M rating games is simply a marketing tool. It is reserved for games with simple gameplay that are quick cash grabs. Nintendo discovered that developing games for ALL audiences and not just 8-15 year-olds (M rated games) is much more profitable.


Well, simplicity is key for games.
But most M rated games aren't simple.

The good ones usually are (like Saints Row, and Dark Souls), but then you have the crappy, needlessly complex ones like Assassin's Creed (2 was good, though).

The best games of all time aren't very complex.
Turtles in Time? Best action game ever made, yet it's simple as all hell.
Perfect Dark? Simple as hell.

The best games are simple.
