I have never encountered anyone outside the internets who said Nintendo games specifically are for children. Video games in general though.

Never had anybody say that to me. I don't know what I'd say, I suppose it depends on who it was. If it wasn't someone I knew well I'd probably just ignore them, if it was someone I knew I'd probably try to explain to them how incorrect that is.

Sometimes some people told me this and my response its always the same:

"Yeah, so?"

And if still insist, I say:

"Looks their games are for kids or younger people but still an adult can enjoy them, I'm *actual age* and I love Animal Crossing, have a problem with that?"

They are indeed. Kids are their main audience, but other people can enjoy their products too. Like My Little Pony.

It just a shame Nintendo doesn't often cater as much to older fans.
2/8/2014- I officially predict Ridley playable in Smash 4. If he's not, I'll quietly change my signature and no one needs to remind me of this ever again.

Remember teens, murder is mature, and the more murder you commit ala AC, CoD, GTA, everyTPSever, the more of a well rounded adult you prove to grown ups you are.

As I get older I honestly find something like Gears of War hilariously juvenile. Chainsawing giant reptiles and saying "get some" after I pick up ammo is something only a kid would find cool.

For the record I own games from all of those mature franchises and find some to be awesome, but let's not kid ourselves, they're not mature. M rated games don't mean "the content is mature" it means "the person playing this should at least be 17 because we assume by that age you can process the information logically".

Anything a young person (under 25) would be skeered to play is mature. Obvious exceptions being media made for children like Sesame street, Dora the Explorer - that stuff is actually FOR kids, because it cannot stimulate an adults mind to be entertaining.
How do you make that alcoholic chicken anyway?

I was literately laughing at people thinking CoD is mature gaming....

That game is infested with 12 yr olds!

Normally people who say that are die hard PS/XB fans and are normally at the age of 12-15yr olds that want to pretend they are mature...

Saying Nintendo is for kids is like saying anime is for kids.

And we all know how will the second half of that statement turn out.

I laugh and pity the other persons mindset. No retort necessary.
The most important question of our generation is,
"What has the internet made you become?"
