Because that would be amazing! I imagine a bundle in Japan would shift units too.

I was thinking this same thing on a different site. What the "new" 3DS adds seems to match the Gamepad in almost every way (except for resolution, touch screen not being wide-screen, etc). If they improved the new 3DS's WiFi to accept the same signal that the Gamepad does, then it could be a real possibility.

If this is true, then it could very well mean we'll see Wii U games that can utilize more than one Gamepad (or in this case, a mix of Gamepads and new 3DSs).

That'd be an awesome idea.
My theory on the New 3DS was already that it was the first step in their combining the handheld and console divisions, so there'll be a lot of ports on it from consoles. This would be another step

Yes, it could. I wouldn't be surprised if they announce this feature when they announce the new 3DS for other regions.

And possibly an indication of the rumored "Fusion".

It would not only require the new 3DS to have 802.11n (with a few tweaks?), but would also need to decode the h.264 stream. Not sure if the current 3DSs have that already via hardware, but if they don't and the new 3DSs don't either, then the boost to other sectors (like CPU) may be used for this purpose (though software decoding would not be pretty in regard to power consumption).

Yeah I just hope that Nintendo are smart enough to realise what a great opportunity this would be. Either way I'm hyped for New 3DS but this would be the icing on the cake.
