not really, you people kept claiming that people didn't buy the WiiU cause casuals thought it was a Wii upgrade instead of a new system, MS isn't going to have that problem with the X

When Microsoft already has "Xbox One Sports" and "Xbox One Remotes" and "Xbox One Music" and "Xbox One Fit" and "Xbox One Play" as products, then it'll be a comparable situation.

And everybody goes crazy

The vast majority of the people complaining about the Wii U name don't even dislike it. I don't mind the name. The problem is rather than it's a frequent target of blame for confusing the large casual crowd--the same people that supported the Wii--into thinking it was another Wii variant. Or something. Then just weren't interested in the system. Viewed strictly as a name, it certainly doesn't reek or isn't even 'bad'. A little non-sensical and eccentric, perhaps, but not 'bad'. It was just a poor decision from a marketing perspective, adding only one letter at the end of the name of the previous console when you're actually making a whole new one and not just an add-on or 'Pro' version.

If it was a newer version of the Wii with upgrades, like a 'PS4 Pro' ('WiiU' is a Wii with added features and hardware specs), the name would barely be talked about at all. It would be a non-issue. inb4 board crasher says that's all the WiiU really is

That's the problem with the name WiiU, and its source of complaint amongst fans of the console: It's not a bad name when viewed as raw text, but rather a marketing blunder.

If you're going to compare two situations, that's a perfectly valid thing to do, but you do need to reason out the circumstances leading to the outcomes of those two different situations in order to make an educated, valid comparison. It sounds like you think everyone absolutely despises the WiiU name.

Xbox One X is still an Xbox One though.

Wii U was a new generation of hardware, but people didn't know that because it was advertised like peripheral.
Let's be honest, PC isn't sending us their best games. They're bringing F2P, early access, indies; they're trash. And some, I assume, are good games.

Completely different situation. Wii U was a completely new system but it sounded like either a peripheral for Wii or an upgraded version of Wii. Xbox One X sounds like an upgraded version of Xbox One and that's exactly what it is

people rightly interpret xbox as a console revision and not a successor. people did not interpret wii u as the successor it was supposed to be.
