They're remarkably pointless and annoying. Some people like to play their handhelds in vehicles, y'know.

Luigi seems to get knocked off balance with no gyro input at times (similar to things like thps grind balance etc. I guess) so requires some tilting to correct.
It's hardly problematic. Just means the 3d goes wonky for a second.

I only hate it because if I'm playing while lying on my back, it makes me sit up to get across that part.

And the first few times, I was moving the 3ds back and forth too much because I didn't realize that if you hold it still, Luigi's pretty steady. I thought he's SUPPOSED to sway back and forth, and you have to compensate.

they're okay or at least they were when i figured out you had to tilt the 3ds and not use the circle pad,
I'm a little embarrassed to say how long it took me to figure that out

Don't walk while tilting it. Makes them all easy.

I put my 3DS on a table and have Luigi tightrope it. As for D1, I went left right left right while running it to the other side, which actually worked.
