Why is Bowser still the villain?
Why is Peach still being kidnapped?
Why do they keep rehashing the same environments?
Why are two generic Toads playable over Wario and Waluigi?
Why is the soundtrack composed of low quality MIDIs?
Why does this game lack online play?

Seriously, the art style doesn't bother me at all, it's how formulaic the franchise has become. The Mushroom Kingdom has such a diverse group of characters, and all they do is shove the SMB3 cast down our throats. Where are Wario, Daisy, Wart, and Tatanga? Don't even get me started on the RPG characters. So much wasted potential.

The first two are fine IMO. Bowser being the villain and Peach being the damsel in distress is an iconic enough cliche for the main Mario games, besides the only Mario games I really play for story are the fantastic Paper Mario games. The environments look slightly better but still could be better. I'd like other characters like Wario but I suppose the toads will suffice. The soundtrack is ok. Now my real gripe is no online co op play. This is archaic, tons of games this gen even newly rereleased games have online co op, this really is a bad move for Nintendo to still be this far behind.
