I know this game is rated E10+, but is it OK for younger children?

Like an 8 year old. I know there's violence, but it's not worse than a typical cartoon, or is it?

I got smash 64 when I was, like 8. It was fine.

Granted, the graphics are fancier nowadays, but as long as you trust your kid doesn't have violent tendencies, (which, if you already let them watch slapstick cartoons, I suppose they don't) I can't imagine Smash being a bad influence or anything. No blood, no gore, no swearing, nothing like that.

One character has an attack where he farts. But it's not even overly crass.

I'm no parent, but I'd say Smash is fine for an 8 year old. YouTube some gameplay and make an educated decision.

However, I'd probably avoid the DLC character, Bayonetta.

Worth noting that @TheThirdDay ‘s point about Bayonetta isn’t something to worry about. Bayonetta costs extra money, so as long as you’re safe about your Wii U’s eShop funds, you’ll be good.
I guess this counts as a good signature.

^This, but Bayonetta would be for religious reasons. If we're going just by nudity or whatever, there are also alternate costumes for Shulk and Zero Suit Samus to watch out for.

As long as they don't go online.

Pikachu and Sonic are more "nude" than those two lol.

Do your kids never leave the house?
I'm sick of off topic threads and abusive mods.

Should be fine for kids. Bayo's dances are a little provocative, but nowhere near her usual level. Violence is cartoony.

Why does a character have to fart? Who is it and is it graphical?

It's Wario. Japan seems to think that's what he's all about these days. If it reaches full charge, it's a pretty big and loud explosion he lets out. But it's just a greenish-brown gas cloud. There is a noise with it.
