So I was thinking about how the Smash Brothers Dojo provided daily updates before the launch of Brawl, wondering if Nintendo will do it again for the fourth installment. So I thought of the following:

Since Nintendo is having great success with Nintendo Directs. What if they used that format to give us periodic updates about Smash Brothers Wii U/3DS as a spiritual successor to the Smash Dojo.

Basically instead of five updates every week like the Dojo, they would do ten to fifteen minute video every two weeks with footage, screenshots, and news.

For example one video could be:

. announce a Metroid themed direct
. Give some history about Metroid series
. Give a first look at Samus and Zero Suit Samus
. announce a new Metroid stage
. Show Metroid related items and assist trophies
. announcement of newcomer: Ridley
. show footage of 2 minute battle between Samus and Ridley.
. end Smash Brothers Direct
. speculate for the next one in two weeks

So would you be interested in this format? Or would you just what another Smash Dojo again? Feel free to make any suggestions of how you want another Smash Dojo or how you would improve this idea.

A dojo and/or the kind of preview we had for brawl. Not one series and one newcomer shown.

The dojo was good for its' time, but that was six years ago, and sometimes they had REALLY lame updates, like revealing one item.

I'd rather see Directs.

I really liked the nightly anticipation Dojo gave. You knew you were probably going to hear about some crappy item, but there was always that chance something GOOD would come up.

I remember seeing the update for the Pokemon Trainer. I was in awe.

If Nintendo were to do it through NDs, I'd guess updates would be far less common than every 2 weeks.

They had a dojo for Melee as well in Japan.

So I wouldn't be surprised if they have a dojo this time as well.

I actually hope they do.

I don't think a whole Direct just for a few details on Smash would make much sense. Pokemon got a Direct to itself, but only one.

However, they could have several Smash THEMED Directs.

Look at history of Metroid
Show Metroid Smash Details
Show a new Kid Icarus (It is it's sister series, after all)
Show a few other random things
Show off a new Metroid

Then later they could have a

History of Zelda
Zelda in Smash Details
ALTTP2 details
Few other random things
Takamaru in Smash Details (Once again, sister series)
New Zelda game
On 12/02/12 I said I wouldn't change this until something impossible happened. Now, Earthbound is coming to the US.
