Here's hoping for some RDR Easter eggs.

I mean, I'm thinking the game takes place in the same universe sense they are both on the same generation of systems.

Maybe, just maybe RDR is in GTAV's past? Maybe soemthing on John Marston?

I'm pretty sure they aren't connected. Apart form the console generation thing there is really no reason to think they are.

But they don't need to be the same universe for Rockstar throw in some easter eggs.

They're not connected.

"New York City" is referred to a few times. Thus, no "Liberty City"

Good point. But the places in RDR are made up as well. But you are right, they do mention NYC.

But then I found this article where NYC is mentioned in the original SA

"New York City, New York and Mississippi is mentioned on K Rose in GTA SA, Shortly after the song Statler Bros. - New York City, when Mary-Beth Maybell says "I've never been lonely in New York City I've never been east of the Mississippi". This suggests that Liberty City and New York co-exist, which is strange considering Liberty is Grand Theft Auto's equivalent to New York"

http://gta.wikia.com/Grand_Theft_Auto_World

Possibly NYC and LBC coexist? IDK man..possibilities are endless.

I don't think I remember anyone in RDR saying NYC but refer it to as "the east". Would be cool if they had a New Austin reference.

RDR mentions NYC, Manhattan, California. GTA IV uses their made-up names for all of them.
