It seems stupid to me. X-Factor and Ultra Combos are totally anti-competitive and it seems like a band-aid fix by developers to try to appeal to Casuals, and it doesnt even work. Id argue Casuals hate x-factor more than hardcore players do.
How about in Starcraft if when you lose your whole army and main base,.... All your SCV's transform into Battlecruisers.
or in Chess when you get check-mated your King teleports and all of your pawns turn into Queens.
it seems pretty obvious to me that comeback mechanics are stupid. people will still make epic comebacks without x-factor. and its way more hype because it doesnt happen every other game.

I can see your logic "casual players won't take losing as well if they get lamed out by x-factor or something when they were winning" right? Makes sense, but not true in theory. ezmode comeback mechanics are entirely to the benefit of the weaker player, letting you turn a game you were going to lose every single time to a game you'll win 10% of the time if you get a lucky hit in.
Keep in mind that comeback mechanics aren't unversally bad, arcsys games have really, really well designed ones.
Because Capcom has made it so that people are brainwashed into thinking they make the games more "exciting"
Apparently these people forget that Third Strike and MVC2 were hype way before ultras and XFC rewarded people for getting outplayed. It's also funny because when you watch games with huge reversal windows you can see somebody take a massive loss and not even think much of it because they can still reverse the tide all in 10 seconds

They aren't really acceptable. No one seriously thinks Ultras or X-Factor makes these games "better." I like Marvel 3 as much as the next guy, but everyone knows XF is trash and it's a crutch for the weaker player. Recently I played the game with my friends and my win rate went from about 80 percent to 100.
