IMO, Apex pretty much proved three things: (before anyone comments on #1 saying I'm ignorant, check out #3 instead of tl:dr)
1. MorriDoom is that good. The argument that Chris G is the only one winning with MorriDoom should be put to rest now. JRosa has a sloppy MorriDoom with a decent Strider to clean up the left overs when his MorriDoom eventually falls and yet he made it to top 3. No disrespect to JRosa, to rephrase what JWong said on Twitter during the entire Chris G fiasco "can you honestly say JRosa is better than the people he beat?" (his exact tweet was "So JRosa is better than MarlinPie or Moons right?)
2. Dorm IS a counter to MorriDoom. Counters aren't guaranteed wins, they are ways to force a character out of their comfort zone. MorriDoom's comfort zone is astral vision zoning, something Dorm has stopped on multiple occasions.
a) Game 1 of JRosa/FChamp had JRosa try to zone him and flat out lost once Dorm charged spells.
b) Game 3 of that series had Champ tag out a charged, damaged Dorm (that had to go up against Doom prior to Morrigan) and used liberation as an assist. Had Champ used his Magneto team you can be sure that he wouldn't have tagged out Dorm as he would've rather used a meter for stalking flare and chip setups (something he couldn't do because of Phoenix and Plasma Beam instead of Missiles)
c) Game 4 of Chris G/FChamp had the only instance where Chris G tried to zone Dorm. He got hit with a charged liberation. Once again, if Doom had missiles and he could use meter he could've zoned Morrigan out but didn't and ended up having to deal with rushdown Morrigan.
3. Chris G is winning WITH MorriDoom, not just because of it. There's really no debate to this. Dorm is a bad match-up, he learned to deal with it by making a rushdown heavy Morrigan with both solid gameplay and gimmicks (astral vision up close that'll combo break the opponents counter hit leading to a combo, missile setups, etc.) You can counter pick MorriDoom, you can't counter pick Chris G.
Also, to explain the FChamp Phoenix team, Champ once said on FGTV that he came up with the perfect MorriDoom counter team, saying that with Dorm / Doom / Phoenix he would be either guaranteed 5 meters for Phoenix or have a Dorm with meter if they snap Phoenix in (another plus is that Morrigan loses meter for AV.) In order for Morrigan to do soul drain combos they'd have to rushdown and lose the strength of bullet hell. I personally think he's limiting himself by nerfing Dorm / Doom zoning (Missiles is much better, can't stalking flare) and losing his most consistent character in Magneto.
