Jesus how many times are people going to post this?
The game was a failure and people throw conspiracy theories everywhere.
Read the actual article, this applies to Borderlands as well.
FWIW, I've not only read the article you've linked to but I've been following the whole A:CM/'Geargate' story through Reddit and the Sega Awakens blog. There is simply not enough confirmable evidence at the moment to say "Yep, Gearbox lied and stole from Sega, Borderlands was mostly funded by embezzled money and now Borderlands is DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!"
Even if one assumes the absolute worst happened, there's no way to predict how it will affect future Borderlands support or GBX's long-term outlook. FFS, both EA and Capcom are almost universally despised by gamers and have awful business practices that MANY people know about, but they still sell millions of games even while the people who buy those games complain about everything. Unless GBX is taken to court and completely, utterly dismantled by the subsequent ruling, they'll probably still be around. And there's NO guarantee that GBX will be in legal trouble over their part in A:CM. Is it a possibility? Yeah. Is it likely? At this point, probably not.
I do not understand most of the acronyms in this post.
