If the pokemon can have a gender, then always female. Why? In case of random Attracts, Captivates and Rivalries.

I don't usually aim for certain genders for Pokémon, unless I have a particular nickname in mind for one of that type. Then it needs to fit. Not a great reason, but it keeps me entertained.

I'm wholly neutral save for breeding. I don't even care if it "looks better" as one or the other, like Machamp or Gardevoir.

That's exactly how I feel. I find it hilarious though, having a male Gardevoir and knowing people will feel uncomfortable by that.

Don't care really. Except that I like my Lopunny and Gardevoir to be male.

When I was young we played Red and Blue didn't have genders!

Anyway, old man aside, not really. I'm one of those people who picks the gender that suits the Pokemon. For example Gardevoir & Flygon seem Female, while Aggron & Swampert seem Male.

Female.
Though I did want my shiny Ralts to be male so I could name him "Hideyoshi" and he'd be a beautiful Gardevoir.
Too bad it turned out to be a female.

Apart from breeding mechanics, only for specific pokemon where I think they should be gender specific, such as Gardevoir.
The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

It's gotta fit the Pokemon's appearance. Can you imagine Mr. Mime as a female?

Female, Unless it's a rather masculin Pokemon...and Fighting types(because of the aforementioned reason) A female Machamp....iunno the thought is unnerving =x

But most of my pokemon i go out of my way to find female versions. More so if i intend to use it at some point.
