So let get this straight, the servers are not needed to play the game because the servers for simcity aren't handling the computations the devs claims and they used a timer to boot players when they are offline for 20 minutes while the game continues to function as if no internet connection was needed to play? That's very scummy for them for not telling us the game can work offline except they instead booted people for not playing online.

The best era in PC gaming history is from Warcraft 2 to Starcraft to Sim City 3000 to Diablo 2 and it's been on a decline since -- especially NOW.

Thats all I have to say.

Yep. Anyone paying any attention to the game working perfectly fine when connection was lost to the server knew this since release. The online portion of SimCity was vastly over-exaggerated to assure you that always online DRM was necessary and justified.

It's EA.

EA.

EA is like one giant embodiment of Peter Molyneux combined with Bob Kotick; everything they do is over-exaggerated and over-exploited.

I think it's pessimistic to say gaming is in a decline. A lot of amazing games, dare I say some of the most amazing games, have come out in the last 10-15 years. along with those amazing games have come a lot of horrible crap, but that was true of the era of amazing PC gaming that you speak of.

Yes the game works without internet, the one thing I want to know is why boot players during internet outages without letting maxis know about it?

lol this.

It seems like most online games deemphasize community aspects and social interaction nowadays as well.

I also blame the industry for turning into Hollywood. Too many franchises are getting unnecessary and unworthy sequels and reboots. Mountains of garbage.
