I'm making the transition from training wheels to no handlebars by giving up my "Fashion Souls" mindset and my BSS and instead taking a more optimized approach, and learning the ways of the SKS so I can hang tough with the big boys.
Since SKS cannot be blade buffed, a 30-faith build is no longer going to work for me, so I'm instead going to try a pyromancer approach. This is what I've got so far.
Still 8 SL's to tinker with before I hit my 122 cap. Equipment is optimized to reach the 21-poise softcap for 1h light weapons while retaining the flip.
From this day I swear myself to learn and obey under the tutelage of Dex_Pyro and master the art of Longspearing. If you will have me as your apprentice, I will humbly accept.
Okay, cheesy, I know, but I'm serious. My Darkmoon was fun and dandy for a while but after learning from the pros here and dueling with some finer players, I learned that it's not nearly as optimized as it should be, so this time I'm going to do it right, with Dex_Pyro helping me each step of the journey.
Will you teach me, Master Dex?
P.S: Chunhwa, I have a nice little present for you in a couple of days. Stay tuned.
As for longspearing, I said pretty much all there is to say about them in the fight club thread, but as for actual practical 'pvp lessons', sure ill give you a few and then we can have some matches as well
Concerning your build, just use havels gaunts and hollow legs for optimal poise, or giants legs+arms for better defense+poise for more weight.
Also drop the shield in favor of less weight, and use mask of child instead of mom so you still have the extra regen
He kicked my butt pretty bad last night, but he also taught me a lot of interesting little tactics that I got to successfully put to good use against a few burg tosspots, and I'm starting to catch on to his tricks.
