Yeah, FFI-III, IV and V were cornerstones of high literature.

They did what they had to do.
No unnecessarily convoluted stories.


Yeah, instead we got bland to almost no plot. Yeah for extremes.

But that really isn't my point. Good storyteling has never been a mandate of an FF regardless who was wrote it. Let not forget that FF game plots have been criticized for years, both by it's own fans and others outside of it.

Hell, Hiroyuki Itou basically says he doesn't give damn about the FF plot and lets do whatever with it.

I don't really care if the story is good or not, but I'd rather have the story from V than that from XIII.
